MAGNET is equipped with The Illumina next-generation sequencing platform, MiSeq, for metagenomic studies . MiSeq is a benchtop sequencer, which utilizes the well-established sequencing by synthesis (SBS) technology. Clonal generation, sequencing, and data analysis are done in a single run. MiSeq offers short sequencing run times (6 hrs- 3 days) and long read lengths (2 x 25 – 2 x 300bp). It performs both single- and paired-end runs with read adjustable lengths and produces up to 15 GB of output data from 50 million paired-end reads (at a read length of 300 bp). The facility is accompanied with DNA size selection unit (Biotape) while an automated library preparation system will be established by the end of 2020.
